Socrates Quotes – सुकरात एक ग्रीक दार्शनिक थे। इनके द्वारा कभी कोई ग्रंथ नही लिखा गया क्योंकि ये अपने विचार लिखते नहीं थे। ये बहुत ही गरीब परिवार में पैदा हुए थे। इनके माता-पिता पूरे दिन मेहनत करते, तब जाकर वे अपने छोटे से परिवार का भरन-पोषण कर पाते थे। ये फटे-पुराने कपड़े पहन कर, बिना चप्पल पूरे गाँव में घूमा करते थे।
पिता की आर्थिक स्थिति सही न होने के कारण सुकरात ने नि:शुल्क शिक्षा प्राप्त की। संगीत और विज्ञान में इनकी रूचि ज्यादा थी। एथेन्स में कई बड़े-बड़े विद्वान, कलाकार, दार्शनिक तथा कवि, संगीतज्ञ आदि रहा करते थे। सुकरात को इनसे हिल-मिलकर रहना अधिक पसन्द था। सुकरात दिन भर इनके घर के आस-पास चक्कर लगाते रहते थे।
सुकरात ने देश के दुश्मनों के खिलाफ, युद्ध में एक पैदल सैनिक के रूप में भी भाग लिया था और इस कार्य के लिए इनकी खूूब सराहना भी की गई थी।
